In 2013 the Women's Institute launched a campaign to stop the decline of our High Streets.   High Streets are the centres of our communities and their loss is our loss. A really good value hairdresser: top quality service  for reasonable money. Friendly staff with real personality, that will go beyond the banal chit chat you so often get in a hairdresser. Lovely beautician service too, and they know how to cut curly hair. (Mhairi)

The Remedie Rooms
Women come from all over London to use the Remedie Rooms – Chelsea service for Streatham prices – it’s an amazing spa and beauty treatment salon, with the best French treatments, such as Thalgo, that literally takes inches off. Friendly French beauticians will make you feel very welcome. A good one for a treat. (Mhairi)

Platform Barbers
On Sternhold Avenue, just round the corner from Streatham Hill Station. Direct your menfolk here for their haircuts.  Great for small boys too - they get to sit in a racing car and there’s a lollipop afterwards. The Lebanese barber, who owns the shop, is very friendly and he always does an extremely neat and tidy short back and sides. It’s affordable too. (Jane)
